"Service area and default search area"

Two different settings - the Company Service Area that feeds your lead tools, and the geography new searches open to.

Two geographic settings control different things, and confusing them is the top source of "why is this empty?" tickets.

Company Service Area (Settings, then Company, then Company Service Area) is your service area: define it by ZIP list, county selection (whole states work), or a metro pin with a radius. It is the default search area for Portfolio Finder's Find Prospects (with a one-click reset in the search page), and it feeds the dashboard's Service Area Summary and FRBO Listings.

Default search area (in your search settings) controls what geography loads when you open a new search. It's a convenience default, not a restriction; you can always search anywhere.

Changes take effect within minutes and never touch existing saved searches or favorites.

Troubleshooting

Thin FRBO Listings on the dashboard usually mean the service area sits outside your MLS coverage. And it's perfectly reasonable for the service area and search default to differ: prospect where you operate, browse wherever you're curious.
